What the office does
The town code calls this office the finance director. The finance director receives and safely keeps all money that comes to the town and pays it out, keeps a separate record and account of each fund the council establishes, apportions receipts among the funds as the council prescribes, keeps a complete set of books showing every money transaction of the town, reports receipts and disbursements to the council monthly, and at year's end produces a full statement of revenue by source, spending by appropriation, and outstanding debt.
The finance director is appointed, evaluated and terminated by the town manager.
