What the office does
The treasurer is the county's banker. The office receives all money of the county and other money the law directs to be paid to the county, keeps it safely, keeps an account of every receipt and expenditure, and pays money out only by warrant issued by the Board of Supervisors, by authorized electronic transfer, or as the law otherwise provides, issuing a numbered receipt for every payment it takes in.
The treasurer is also, by statute, the county's tax collector.
