What the office does
The code establishes the Development Services Department as the town's planning department. It performs the town's planning functions and provides technical support and guidance on every plan and ordinance amendment and every application for development approval. The code does not name a director; the office it defines is the planning manager, whoever the town manager designates to administer the land development title, who is also the town's zoning administrator under state law. As a department head, the director serves under the direction of the town manager.
